A former Michigan State and USA Gymnastics physician is facing a 16th allegation of sexual assault.
On Wednesday, a former Michigan State softball player became the 16th alleged victim to file a lawsuit against Dr. Larry Nassar, accusing him of sexually assaulting her under the guise of treatment after she arrived at the school in 1997, according to WILX News 10.
The victim also filed suit against the university itself, saying she was told that Nassar’s actions were part of legitimate medical treatment at the time.
Beyond his work at Michigan State, Nassar was also a physician for the USA Gymnastics team, with two former gymnasts accusing him of similar abuses, including one Olympic medalist. Those women have also accused USA Gymnastics coaches of willfully ignoring Nassar’s actions.
Nassar is currently in federal custody on separate child pornography charges.
