USOC says Ryan Lochte, other swimmers will face additional discipline

Ryan Lochte

Ryan Lochte and his fellow U.S. swimmers aren’t out of the woods yet.

U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun told the Associated Press that Lochte and his three teammates — Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger, and Jimmy Feigen — would be subject to further discipline.

“They let down our athletes,” Blackmun said. “They let down Americans.”

There was no indication as to what sort of discipline might be on the table, but it’s clear the USOC is not at all happy with the conduct of the swimmers. U.S. swimming isn’t, either. According to reports, Lochte was facing a much stiffer punishment than he’ll likely get now had he not apologized for his behavior and dishonesty.
