Red Sox chairman Tom Werner fails miserable trying to start ‘Let’s go Red Sox’ chant (Video)
The Boston Red Sox held their championship parade through the streets of Boston on Saturday, and the rolling rally including some very touching moments. Jonny Gomes and Jarrod Saltalamacchia paused for a few minutes at the spot of the Boston Marathon finish line to pay tribute to the bombing victims and embrace some of those who were affected by the tragedy.
There was also some awkwardness, courtesy of Red Sox chairman Tom Werner. When Werner took the microphone to address the swarms of Sox fans, he tried to start a “Let’s go Red Sox” chant. It was almost as if he had never heard a basic “let’s go ___” chant in his life.
Needless to say, it didn’t work. Fortunately for Werner, he’s part of a Red Sox ownership group that has brought the city of Boston three championships since 2004. The fans love him at the moment.
