Draymond Green admits Warriors ‘bored’ with regular season

Although they have a chance to make NBA history by winning their remaining four games, the Golden State Warriors might be yawning their way through the end of the regular season.

After Tuesday night’s overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Draymond Green admitted that the Warriors are getting “bored” with the regular season.

“I like to break the season up into three segments,” Green explained. “You’ve got the start of the season all the way up until the All-Star break. The few weeks before the All-Star Game are kind of the dog days where you’re just there. Then after the All-Star Game you kind of get that second wind, and it lasts about three weeks. Then, all of a sudden, you’re just sitting there again. Then you got the playoffs, where you get your real wind.

“I think we’re at a point now where it’s just human nature and like, alright, I’m kind of ready for the regular season to end. There’s 82 games — you get bored with that after a while.”

Green said he was not making excuses for losing and understands it is important to not stumble into the playoffs, but he told reporters he is just trying to be “real.”

Golden State has lost two of three for just the second time this year, and it suddenly looks like the Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins in a season might stand. You can read more about the Warriors’ chances of breaking the record here.

You can understand the average team being bored with the regular season, but the Warriors have seemed driven by their chase for the record. Now, they must beat the San Antonio Spurs twice and could even lose the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Things have changed quickly.
