Lakers, Time Warner reportedly offering Dwight Howard own TV show

Dwight Howard faceRapper Slim Thug already made a pretty awesome sales pitch for Dwight Howard to go to the Houston Rockets, but don’t count out the Los Angeles Lakers in this competition.

According to ESPN LA’s Arash Markazi, Time Warner Cable was already in talks with Howard about giving the center a TV show if he returned to the Lakers.

Time Warner Cable bought the rights to televise Lakers games in 2011 for $3 billion over 20 years. They began televising Lakers games last year and initially had difficulty getting their two sports channels in the lineup for all cable providers. They eventually agreed to a deal with DirecTV in November, which was a huge turning point.

Markazi says Time Warner Cable is desperate for original programming on their sports channels, so being able to give Dwight his own show would be a win-win for both sides. Knowing how much Dwight loves attention, this sort of pitch might actually appeal to him.

Lakers superfan Jack Nicholson also reportedly spoke with Howard about remaining with the Lakers. Yes, it looks like LA is using their entertainment industry ties to try wooing the big man, not to mention a social media campaign.
