Stephen Curry’s game-used mouthguard up for auction

Stephen-Curry-mouthguard

Collectors will buy just about anything that could in some way be considered valuable. Apparently that includes an object that has been slobbered and chewed on for at least 40 or so minutes of intense, sweaty game action.

Currently for sale at SCP Auctions is an official mouthguard that Stephen Curry wore during a game last season. As the item description notes, Curry is known for basically chewing his mouthguard the entire game while raining three-pointers. If that turns you on, the bidding starts at $1,500.

Here’s more:

Offered for the first time publicly is one of Steph’s game-used (i.e. game-chewed) mouthguards from his special 2015-16 season. The flexible rubber mouthguard is custom-made to fit Curry’s teeth. It is specially-designed with the Golden State Warriors logo on the left and “#30 CURRY” on both sides built into the molded material. Curry’s bite marks are evident. Thankfully, it was presented to us washed and clean from what we can tell. I’m sure there are a couple fans and collectors out there who wouldn’t even mind a little Steph saliva! It comes in a gray mouthguard case with “CURRY” taped on the outside.

The mouthpiece was acquired by the consignor after a December road game. His seats were close to the Warriors bench and apparently it was left behind under one of the team’s courtside chairs after the game. Perhaps it had fallen out of the trainer’s bag.

Shockingly, there have been no bids as of writing this post. The item will be for sale for more than two weeks.

We have seen some bizarre items sell at auction in the past, but this is easily one of the more disgusting ones. I can think of better ways to spend $1,500, that’s for sure.
