Jason Alexander tells Howard Stern why Susan was killed off on ‘Seinfeld’
Jason Alexander was a guest on Howard Stern Wednesday and spoke candidly about why his ex-fiancee Susan was killed off on “Seinfeld” after infamously licking too many toxic envelopes.
According to Alexander, it was impossible for him to mesh with actress Heidi Swedberg when they were filming. He just could not act with her. He says he brought it up with the other stars of the show and they all dismissed him until they shared screen time with her, which led them to all agree.
Julia Louis-Dreyfuss was event quoted as saying “don’t you just want to kill her?” which set a light bulb off in Larry David’s head for how they would handle Susan’s character and future with George Costanza.
You can hear Alexander talk about it in the clip below:
This is particularly interesting for us here at LBS because a few months ago, DelVecchio commented about Susan’s character when both of us were watching the same episode of the show.
Here’s how the chat went:
Steve DelVecchio: susan
she’s awful lol
Larry Brown: what about her?
Steve DelVecchio: just annoying
naggy
Larry Brown: cuz she was right about george having an affair?
Steve DelVecchio: no in general
i never liked her
And neither did anyone else from the show! Del was right! And if you didn’t like Susan, you were just like everyone else.
