Aaron Hernandez Eats Grilled Chicken at Locker to Mock Red Sox, Boston Media

Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez ate a piece of grilled chicken in front of his locker while meeting with the media Thursday. The choice of food clearly mocked the Red Sox, and potentially the Boston media.

The Boston Globe reported that some Red Sox pitchers habitually drank beer, ate fried chicken, and played video games in the clubhouse during games. Most people laughed off the fried chicken part, wondering what that had to do with the team’s collapse. By eating the chicken, Hernandez appeared to mock the media. But Hernandez also had a piece of grilled chicken, rather than fried chicken, to make it seem like he wasn’t an out-of-shape slob like the Red Sox pitchers.

You can watch the entire video at NFL.com, but it’s pretty uneventful. You have to figure Hernandez will be disciplined for his joke. Not only does this veer from the Patriots’ four rules for dealing with the media, but it’s also similar to the Wes Welker press conference that mocked Rex Ryan. Welker’s joke resulted in a benching during a playoff game. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happened to Hernandez.
