Bills reportedly trying to trade for Sam Bradford
The Buffalo Bills are pursuing a trade for Sam Bradford according to a report, but another outlet says that report is not true.
Yahoo Sports’ Rand Getlin reported Tuesday that the Bills do not see E.J. Manuel as a viable option as their starting quarterback, so they are trying to swing a trade for Bradford. Bradford reportedly was granted permission by the Rams to seek a trade, however, the Rams disputed that report and say they want him back.
Not only did the Rams deny that they are allowing Bradford to explore a trade, but The Buffalo News disputed Yahoo’s report as well.
However, a source told The News that the Bills were not looking to trade for Bradford and questioned the logic of the Rams even making Bradford available for a trade because it would leave them seeking a replacement in a thin free-agent market and draft for quarterbacks.
As we previously wrote, the most likely outcome is that Bradford returns to the Rams on a new deal that is more team-friendly. Bradford is entering the final year of his rookie deal, which will pay him nearly $13 million.
For a guy who has played in just seven games the past two seasons, Bradford sure is a man in demand. This tells us a few things: the quarterback market is very thin, and Bradford is viewed as a valuable asset.
