Cam Newton surprises seventh graders by hopping fence to play football with them (Video)

Cam Newton is just a big kid inside, so when he sees a seventh grader in a Cam Newton jersey playing football, well, he just has to join in on the fun.

Anna Starnes of WSOC-TV relayed the story of how Newton was driving along Friday past the Community School of Davidson in Davidson, N.C. when he spotted a student wearing his jersey on the playground. The Panthers quarterback stopped, asked the teachers if he could stop by, hopped the fence, and started playing football with the students, and just watch and listen to the chaos that reigned.

“The students just herded all around him,” seventh grade teacher Mimi Siadak said. “I still can’t believe he did that.”

Newton even got the students to heckle a teacher wearing a Steelers lanyard and posed for a group dabbing photo.

“I saw one girl crying and hyperventilating and when I asked, ‘Sweetheart what’s wrong?'” Siadak said. “She said, ‘That was just the best moment of my life.'”

Newton has done pretty cool stuff like this before, but it’s awesome to see one of the NFL’s biggest stars just make an on-the-fly decision to hang out with some seventh graders. It sounds like they had an awesome time, too.
