Eric Decker pokes fun at himself for falling on sure touchdown
Eric Decker had one of the most embarrassing plays of the game on “Monday Night Football,” and easily one of the most embarrassing plays of the season. The Broncos receiver caught a deep second-down pass from Peyton Manning during the second quarter against the Chargers and had nobody near him. The Chargers clearly bit on the play action fake and had just given up an 85-yard touchdown pass … until Decker lost his balance and fell (video here).
Decker caught the ball around midfield and began to stumble about five yards later, even though nobody was around him. He fell, got up, and then was tackled after gaining 55 yards. Nothing could explain why he fell, so Decker joked about it after the game:
If yall didn’t see, they had trip wire out there tonight. I reported it to the NFL so an investigation is pending. #humblingmoment

Three plays after Decker’s fall, the Chargers intercepted Manning and returned it for a touchdown to go up 17-0. That was a 10-point swing in the game, but it only was part of the story in Denver’s eventual comeback.
You better believe Decker wouldn’t have been joking had his team lost, but since they won, he could have a little fun with it afterward. Sniper!
