Julian Edelman: Tom Brady is ‘ticked off’
Tom Brady is still awaiting a ruling from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to determine how much — if any — time he will miss next season. While the four-time Super Bowl champion may seem as calm, cool and collected as ever this offseason, there has been some indication that he is furious over the Deflategate allegations.
Just ask Julian Edelman.
At his football camp in Reading, Mass., on Saturday, Brady’s favorite target was asked if he sees a change in Brady over the past few months.
“I mean, he’s fired up. We’ll say that,” Edelman said, per Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal. “You don’t want a mad Tom Brady. He’s a little ticked off.”
Brady was probably mad before the Super Bowl, and we all saw how that turned out. He was named Super Bowl MVP and led an amazing comeback against a secondary that many consider to be one of the best in NFL history.
And Edelman isn’t the first person to indicate that Brady intends to use Deflategate as motivation. While Edelman is closer to the current situation, a former teammate of Brady’s also believes that the allegations against Brady could be bad news for the rest of the league.
Brady will turn 38 this summer. He certainly isn’t the Brady of 2007, but 33 touchdowns, over 4,000 yards and only nine interceptions last season indicated that he has plenty of good football ahead of him.
It’s unclear what Brady’s approach will be if his suspension is upheld or reduced to a game or two, though this report indicates we could be a long way from a solution. But guilty or not and suspended or not, expect Brady to come ready to play at some point this fall.
