Scott Hanson shares his side of viral video from car accident

Scott Hanson at the RedZone desk

Scott Hanson witnessed a serious car accident earlier this week, and the voice of NFL RedZone says he was in disbelief over the behavior of another person who was at the scene.

A video that went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms Tuesday showed a person walking up to an overturned vehicle a removing a chunk of watermelon from inside the car. As the person was recording the bizarre behavior, a bystander could be heard asking the person, “Dude, what are you doing?”

Many fans recognized the voice as Hanson’s. A visibly aggravated Hanson was then shown recording the person who was taking the video to show that the other person was messing around at the scene of the crash.

Hanson confirmed that he was the man in the video and explained his side of what happened. He said there was a “terrible crash” and that the person recording the footage was “trying to exploit the situation for his social media.”

“Yes, I am fine. I was a witness — I wasn’t in either car. Terrible crash,” Hanson wrote. “I checked on the survivors and then saw that jack-wagon trying to exploit the situation for his social media. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but I was/am. Disheartening.”

Hanson also responded to another follower on X who asked if it was the legendary RedZone voice in the video.

“Yes. 2 ppl could’ve died, & that clown was excited about his Tik Tok. I couldn’t believe it. You know his name/identity? He jetted when the police were pulling up. I video’d him in case what he was doing was illegal — (tampering with the scene of a crime?). So disappointing,” Hanson replied.

Hanson said the drivers of the two cars looked to be in “shock” but did not appear to suffer any serious injuries.

We have seen Hanson handle some alarming situations with poise in the past, and it looks like he did the same at the crash scene.
