Wanna get away?

Uh yes, I’ll take things that suck for $500 Alex.  In the case of Nnamdi Asomugha, the answer to the “Wanna get away” question would be YES.  Very much so, YES.  So that was the slogan for the entire Southwest Airlines campaign, but unfortunately for Asomugha, neither Southwest nor any other airline could deliver in the clutch…not unlike Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter.

How would you like to receive a phone call from the NFL inviting you to your first NFL Pro Bowl, only to not make it to the game because you CAN’T FIND A FLIGHT to Hawaii.  Len Pasquarelli writes

Seems that the AFC needed a replacement for Jacksonville cornerback Rashean Mathis, who suffered an undisclosed injury on Friday that could keep him out of the game.  There was no flight that Asomugha could catch that would get him to Honolulu in time for Saturday evening’s annual all-star matchup between the AFC and NFC conferences.

If you comment on this story within the first 10 minutes it’s posted, I’ll give you a million bucks.  Catch my drift?  Too bad some things just aren’t meant to be.

Southwest doesn’t directly serve Hawaii they codeshare with ATA. I’m sure that all commercial flights from the Mainland were full because the Pro Bowl. If the NFL thought it was that important to get Asomugha to that game, they would have arranged for a charter.
