Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was given a two-minute penalty for boarding late in the third period of his team’s 6-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, and the fans let him hear it. What Lucic fired back with resulted in a $5,000 fine.
As he was stepping into the box, Lucic looked at the fans and made a wanking motion. He also lifted his arms over his head to gesture like he was hoisting the Stanley Cup. Lucic then went on to scream something at an official when the Canadiens sealed the game with an empty-net goal, and he was ejected from the game.
The NHL announced on Friday morning that Lucic has been fined $5,000 for the incident.
Lucic has a history with the Canadiens that dates back to at least last year. After Boston was dominated by Montreal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Lucic had words with Alexei Emelin and supposedly threatened Dale Weise. Emelin leveled Lucic with a clean open-ice hit during Lucic’s first shift on Thursday. I’m sure Milan wasn’t pleased about it.
