Kyler Murray could potentially be going from the NFC West to the NFC North.
The Arizona Cardinals quarterback Murray would be interested in playing for the Minnesota Vikings, Phil Mackey of SKOR North reported this week during the “Purple Daily” podcast. This news comes as Murray is on the outs with the Cardinals after a disappointing 2025 NFL season.
Murray, the 28-year-old former No. 1 overall pick, managed just five total appearances in 2025 for the Cardinals, throwing for only 962 yards and six touchdowns to three interceptions. It was a foot injury that cost Murray the majority of the year (after he already had a lengthy recovery from a torn ACL suffered during the 2022 season).
The two-time Pro Bowler Murray is still signed with the Cardinals through 2028. But he is widely expected to be traded by the team around the start of the new league year in March as even new Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur sounds unsure of Murray’s future with the team.
As for the Vikings, they had a rather disastrous 2025 campaign at the quarterback position, in large part due to JJ McCarthy’s continued inability to stay healthy. While McCarthy still has two years left on his rookie contract with Minnesota, the Vikings have also recently been linked to another noteworthy QB on the trade market as they look to bring in some competition to push McCarthy.
A few months ago, Murray was already linked to a couple of other teams on the trade market. But with the Vikings still managing to go 9-8 last season despite their offensive woes, they might be the most appealing destination for Murray at this point.
