Bomani Jones, Chris Broussard in heated Twitter argument over abstinence
Bomani Jones and Chris Broussard got into a heated Twitter argument Tuesday over abstinence.
The comments came up in response to what Jones said on ESPN show “Highly Questionable” concerning Russell Wilson’s vow of abstinence with girlfriend Ciara. Broussard, an NBA insider for ESPN, heard Jones speak critically of Wilson’s premarital sex beliefs, and decided to question him about it via Twitter.
He was especially irked over Jones implying that people who wait until marriage to have sex are being “stupid.” Broussard even demanded an apology, which Jones would not capitulate to.
Here is video of Bomani’s comments:
Below are their tweets. It gets pretty lengthy.
(1 of 2) @bomani_jones on @HQonESPN regarding Russell/Ciara u implied people trying 2 do it Jesus' way by waiting till marriage r stupid.

(2 of 3) @bomani_jones u owe all Bible-believing Christians trying to live as Russell/Ciara are an apology
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones if u criticized the sex attitudes of any other group you'd b criticized intensely. Why do u feel free to criticize Christians?

i believe the underlying premise is flawed and about controlling women as much as anything else. so yes. https://t.co/DUyjVgmoAm

not today RT @Chris_Broussard: (2 of 3) @bomani_jones u owe all Bible-believing Christians trying to live as Russell/Ciara are an apology
— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones you implied that the people were stupid not that the idea was counterproductive, etc.
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
i think americans value chastity in a way i find silly, problematic and, ultimately, counterproductive. i don't apologize for that.
— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones I saw u say "stupid" not silly…"neither of them look stupid." So is Tim Tebow stupid bc u don't agree with him?
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones you're right. U went in on Muslims, Jews & Christians – anyone trying to sincerely follow the sacred book of their religion
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones it's got nothing to do with "controlling women." It ain't like Russell's asking Ciara to do something that he's not doing too
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones it's one thing to say you disagree or even think someone/thing is wrong, but you said "stupid," which is where u were wrong
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones how is waiting counterproductive? I guess u think promiscuity that leads to disease, Fatherlessness, etc. is productive.
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones it's not about a problem w/premarital sex; it's about trying to follow our Lord. He's our Lord so we try 2 follow his rules
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones if Jesus ain't your Lord, that's perfectly fine. But don't call those who try 2 follow him stupid.
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
@bomani_jones I ain't mad, bro. We always been cool. Just sayin u need to be tolerant of all beliefs, not just the politically correct ones
— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 7, 2015
because if i was a 22 year-old virgin i would have hastily gotten married cuz…yanno? https://t.co/oBowS6Zz9S
— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) July 7, 2015
i tolerate a lot of all of your religious views to keep things peaceful. the sex stuff is where i refuse. be mad. i ain't. at all.
— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) July 7, 2015
@Chris_Broussard anyway, i have to leave this alone now. best for everyone.
— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) July 7, 2015
