Like many other teams, the Miami Heat have gotten into the trend of handing out shirts to their fans for playoff games. The objective is to get the arena color-coordinated, or in some cases, get a spell-out going. Well much to the chagrin of LBS writer Danny Lee who lamented the takeover of marketing and advertising in sports, the Heat partnered with the Jordan brand to give away Dwyane Wade Jumpman shirts for fans to wear during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Wade has been endorsing the Jordan brand ever since transitioning from Converse in 2009. I guess this is what you would call marketing synergy. Good thing the Heat aren’t facing the Bulls in the conference finals again, otherwise the shirt would have the silhouette of the opposing team’s most famous player.
