There are many segments of fans and analysts who believe that letting position players pitch in blowout losses is a way to cheapen the game. There’s no real way to stop it, but Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has a few ideas.
Cora suggested that any team that uses a position player should be obligated to do it again in the next game to cut down on the practice. He also suggested that a team that uses a position player should not be allowed to hit again during that game.
Alex Cora isn't a fan of position players pitching. Offered two solutions:
1. If a team uses a position player, they have to have one face three hitters in the next game, too.
2. If a team uses a position player, their offense can't swing the bat for the rest of the game.— Chris Mason (@ByChrisMason) August 21, 2019
Cora openly admitted that neither idea was likely to be seriously considered.
Cora on option 2: "This is not going to happen. Well, the other one either."

The issue of position players pitching has escalated recently. Once a novelty, it has become a more widespread tactic for teams on the wrong end of blowouts, and it led to one of Cora’s rival managers suggesting a mercy rule be adopted for situations like it.
