After falling behind 3-1 in the World Series, the Chicago Cubs have to be pretty thrilled about sending the series to a seventh game. But standing between them and their first championship since 1908 will be Cleveland Indians starter Corey Kluber.
Even though Kluber has gone 4-1 with a 0.89 ERA this postseason, Cubs left fielder Ben Zobrist says the team is “excited” for the challenge.
“We’re excited to get a chance to get Kluber one more time. You can’t ask for a better opportunity,” Zobrist said in an interview with FOX after Game 6.
Zobrist also said he was expecting “more of the same” in terms of close games and tough battles.
Kluber has already gone 2-0 against the Cubs, allowing just one run in 12 innings against them during the World Series. But he’ll be pitching on short rest once again, which could make him somewhat vulnerable for the suddenly hot Cubs offense.
