Brewers’ Adrian Houser pukes and rallies during game

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Adrian Houser showed on Saturday just how resilient he is.

The starter began the game against the Texas Rangers with two strikeouts before committing an error that allowed Elvis Andrus to reach base. As he walked back to the mound, Houser touched his stomach and showed signs of not feeling well. He crouched down behind the mound and vomited.

Manager Craig Counsell and the team’s trainer came out and gathered around him. Houser drank some water and said he was fine to continue, so he did. He then struck out Rougned Odor to end the inning.

After puking, Houser completely rallied. He retired 10 batters in a row after vomiting and began the game with seven strikeouts over four scoreless innings.

Interestingly, Houser threw up during an appearance last year. The circumstances behind that incident were different; Houser had just been called up and had hardly eaten before pitching that game. Maybe the nerves just get to him at the start of games, which wouldn’t be unusual for an athlete performing in front of a huge audience.
