Carlos Carrasco suffers fractured hand, out indefinitely

The dreadful injury luck persists for the Cleveland Indians’ starting rotation.

The team announced on Twitter that right-hander Carlos Carrasco has a non-displaced fracture of the pinky finger on his right hand and has no timetable for a return to action.

Carrasco was injured in a start against the Tigers on Saturday when he was struck in the hand by an Ian Kinsler line drive on his second pitch of the game.

The Indians were already reeling from the news earlier this week that fellow righty Danny Salazar was looking at a multi-week absence with a forearm issue. Now Carrasco, who had already missed time this season with a strained hamstring, goes down, leaving the team minus two of their three top starters.

Cleveland is on the verge of clinching the AL Central with a seven game advantage over those same Tigers at the moment. But the key arms they’re missing will obviously pose a serious concern for them come playoff time.
