Carlos Martinez has cleaned up his list of once completely dirty Twitter favorites

Carlos Martinez Cardinals

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Carlos Martinez just learned in about the worst way possible that most of one’s Twitter activity is public and therefore completely capable of embarrassing you at any time.

Martinez, who is 22 and pitched 28.1 innings last season for the Cards, had a ton of porn photos marked as his favorites on Twitter. People generally “favorite” a tweet so they can easily access it in the future instead of letting it get lost in the stream of millions of tweets. There is no right or wrong way to assemble a favorites list, but we can safely say that Martinez regrets the way he handled his.

We’ll explain how it all started.

Someone on Twitter noticed that Martinez’s favorites were almost entirely pornographic images tweeted by adult film actresses, we’re assuming. That person told Matt Sebek of JoeSportsFan.com, as Sebek is a big sports media/blogger presence in the St. Louis area. Deadspin picked up on the tidbit and put together a video showing all of his favorites, which were mostly porn images, as seen below (images are censored but still might be NSFW):

Sandwiched around baseball pictures or family pictures and other tweets, were beaver shots, butt shots, breast shots and pretty much everything else you could imagine. The juxtaposition between baseball and babes was pretty humorous:

Martinez liking girls and porn would make him no different from most of the male population in the world, so it’s not that that has him embarrassed. It’s the way this was all discovered that makes the story so humorous.

Come on, Carlos, you have to be brighter than this. And, yes, after the embarrassment, he went through his Twitter profile and cleaned things up.
