Report: Chili Davis to be New York Mets’ next hitting coach
The New York Mets have reportedly made a decision on who their next hitting coach will be.
Earlier this week, the Mets hired Jim Riggleman as a bench coach. They have continued to fill out their coaching staff.
On Wednesday, Jon Heyman reported that Chili Davis will be the club’s next hitting coach.

Davis, a three-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, was most recently the hitting coach for the Chicago Cubs. He was fired by the Cubs last year after players reportedly gave negative feedback about Davis’ work with them. His approach included teaching the hitters to bat the ball to the opposite field. The Cubs front office wanted to see launch angle as a point of emphasis.
The Mets are obviously hoping that Davis’ time in New York goes better than it did in Chicago.
