Corey Seager says he was ‘surprised’ by offseason trade rumors
Corey Seager is admitting to being a bit taken aback by recent developments.
Speaking with reporters on Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop said that he was “surprised” by his inclusion in trade rumors this offseason but was “not bothered” by them, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
The 25-year-old Seager is coming off a 2019 season where he hit .272 with an .817 OPS. He also tied for the National League lead with 44 doubles and chipped in 19 home runs and 87 RBIs for good measure.
Seager was recently linked to one particular team with the Dodgers reportedly pursuing All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians this winter. Teammate Gavin Lux is also lurking as a potential alternative at short, but it sounds like Seager has survived the heat of the hot stove for now.
