Derek Jeter still has eventual goal of owning baseball team
Derek Jeter has intentionally stayed out of the limelight since his retirement from baseball in 2014, but that doesn’t mean he has no interest in getting back in the game eventually.
On Thursday, Jeter said that he didn’t miss baseball, but his ultimate ambition – to become an owner – still remains.
“I needed time away from the game,” Jeter said, via Dan Martin of the New York Post. “You spend that much time doing something, you need to get away and focus on some other things.”
Jeter isn’t rushing to get back into the game, but he made clear that it is still on his radar.
“The ultimate goal is on the ownership side, but not right now,” Jeter said.
Jeter was making noise about this even before he retired, so don’t be surprised to see him eventually get involved and do it. It appears to be a rather long-standing ambition of his.
