Dodgers’ Julio Urias arrested after allegedly shoving woman
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested on a domestic violence charge Monday night following an alleged altercation with a woman in a shopping plaza parking lot.
According to TMZ, police were called to the upscale Beverly Center shopping area in Los Angeles after witnesses say they saw Urias arguing with a woman in the parking lot before shoving her to the ground. The alleged victim denied that Urias became physical with her and said the confrontation was only verbal, but witness accounts and video from the scene implicated Urias.
Urias was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. He spent the night in jail and posted $20,000 bail on Tuesday.
After battling injuries over the past two seasons, Urias has played a big role for the Dodgers this year. The 22-year-old has made nine appearances — four of them starts — and has a 2-2 record with two saves and a 3.18 ERA. He has struck out 32 batters in 28 1/3 innings.
