Forget Mr. October. Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman has turned himself into Mr. World Series.

Freeman came up for his first at-bat Tuesday against the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. With Mookie Betts on second base and one out, Freeman worked a 2-1 count against Yankees starter Luis Gil.

Gil’s 85-mph slider caught way too much of the plate. Freeman smashed it to the short porch in right field for a two-run homer to give the Dodgers yet another early lead.

With his Game 4 blast, Freeman became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in six consecutive World Series games.

Freeman recorded home runs in both Games 5 and 6 of the 2021 World Series when he was still a member of the Atlanta Braves. The Braves won the series over the Astros 4-2.

The 2020 NL MVP entered Tuesday tied with George Springer, who previously homered in four straight in Games 4 to 7 of the 2017 World Series as a member of the Houston Astros. Springer then hit another dinger in Game 1 of the 2019 World Series to snatch the record from Yankees legends Reggie Jackson (4) and Lou Gehrig (4).

Freeman changed the complexion of this year’s World Series entirely when he connected on a walk-off grand slam in Game 1. Freeman was apparently just getting started.
