Freddie Freeman seems to have avoided the worst-case scenario after his scary tumble in Wednesday’s game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers star Freeman had to leave early on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals. In the top of the eighth inning at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., Royals outfielder Isaac Collins lifted a high foul ball down the first base line.
Freeman pursued the ball but ran out of room before he could make the catch. Instead, Freeman ended up falling down hard into the Kansas City dugout.
Take a look at the frightening video.

The ex-NL MVP Freeman stayed in the contest to finish out the half-inning but ended up being pinch-hit for in the bottom of the eighth inning. After the game, which the Dodgers won 4-2, Freeman told reporters that he was “OK.” He noted that he fortunately did not fall on his ankle but added that “everything on my right side is pretty sore.”
Freeman, who turns 37 next month, entered play on Wednesday batting .305 with 15 home runs and 57 RBIs through 117 games for the Dodgers this season. While he might have to take a maintenance day off or two after Wednesday’s scary fall, Freeman has to be thanking his lucky stars that it was not worse (particularly given his history of getting injured in unusual ways).
