Kyle Tucker’s approval rating among Los Angeles Dodgers fans somehow dropped even lower after Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Dodgers were trying to keep the score close in the top of the 9th inning, trailing the visitors 4-1 at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Tucker’s poor fielding put the home team in an even bigger hole.
With a man on first and one out, Brewers star Jackson Chourio hit a deep fly ball to the right-field fence that looked like it should have been caught. Instead, the ball hit Tucker’s glove for a hit, placing runners on second and third with fewer than two outs.
The boo birds started serenading Tucker after the play. It didn’t help that Tucker showed little urgency to get the ball back to the infield.

The Brewers broke the game open when Tommy Edman committed a fielding error two batters later, which allowed two runs to score. It was Edman’s second error of the game.

The expectations for Tucker were sky-high after he signed a 4-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers in January. To say that he’s fallen short of those expectations would be a massive understatement.
The 4-time All-Star went 0-for-19 at the plate during the Dodgers’ 7-game homestand against the Brewers and Kansas City Royals.
Tucker’s hitting has regressed so badly, particularly at home, that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts felt the need to bench him earlier in the Milwaukee series. The move didn’t help Sunday, as Tucker once again went hitless in the 6-2 defeat.
