Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer doubles as the team’s fantasy football commissioner, and his method for determining the team’s draft order was as inventive as it gets.
Scherzer paired off each of the 12 Blue Jays participants with an off-field staff member. The draft order was then determined by which staff member could throw the hardest, with the hardest thrower’s associated team going first.
Manager John Schneider even got in on the act by holding the radar gun.

There was no word on who won, but it’s certainly inventive. It also means the players are completely helpless in determining the order, which is probably part of the point.
Historically, the Blue Jays have taken their fantasy football league very seriously. Clearly, that has not changed, though they are putting a lot on the shoulders of several guys who don’t actually throw baseballs for a living.
