The New York Mets are receiving trade interest from multiple teams for Matt Harvey, and one report says the San Francisco Giants could be frontrunners.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported on Monday that the Giants are viewed by some as the frontrunners to land Harvey, who was DFAd by the Mets.
Some in industry view #SFGiants as front-runner for Harvey. Situation, however, remains fluid. https://t.co/asidtUHsdr

The Giants would make sense as a landing spot for Harvey considering that they just lost Johnny Cueto for a few months due to elbow problems and they’re still without Madison Bumgarner.
In addition to the Giants, the Rangers and Mariners have also been mentioned as potential suitors. The Mets are willing to eat most of the remaining salary (around $4.5 million) that Harvey is owed this season in order to get something back in return.
Harvey was designated for assignment by the Mets amid a difficult season. He was demoted to the bullpen after some poor starts and fared even poorer as a reliever. There were also concerns about how he was spending his time in between games. Harvey has refused an assignment to the minor leagues and believes he is still an MLB starting pitcher.
