Manny Machado accounted for the first run of the NLCS.
Machado took a 2-0 pitch from Milwaukee Brewers starter Gio Gonzalez in the top of the second inning Friday and launched it into the bullpen in left-center field.

Gonzalez’s pitch was clocked at 83 mph and appeared to be on the outside part of the plate. Machado seemed to know what was coming and had no trouble dealing with the offering.
The homer marked Machado’s third of the postseason. He had two in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ NLDS win over the Atlanta Braves, including a 3-run homer in the Game 4 clincher.
