Report: Matt Harvey has ‘enhanced trade value’ heading into deadline
The Cincinnati Reds made a low-risk, high-reward move when they acquired Matt Harvey from the New York Mets back in May, and it sounds as if it could pay off at the trade deadline.
According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, Harvey has “enhanced” his trade value since the Reds picked him up. One of the teams that has inquired about the right-hander is the Washington Nationals.
Harvey has enhanced trade value, going 3-0 with a 1.47 era over last 3 starts (2 at Great America). Better, he’s throwing 95-mph-plus again. #reds

Nats have talked to the Reds. Matt Harvey and Raisel Iglesias are of interest to nats, who are seeking another starter. Multiple teams see Iglesias as possible starter.

There’s always a risk of injury with Harvey, but it is definitely a good sign that he seems to be getting his velocity back. He has a serviceable 3.86 ERA over 10 starts with the Reds and has looked very sharp in his last three, as Heyman noted.
Harvey’s tenure with the Mets came to a very ugly end, but he’s under contract for just $5.6 million this year before he comes a free agent after the season. The Reds, who are currently 37-48 and in last place in the NL Central, can probably get something decent in return for him.
