Matt Latos ‘I Hate SF!’ Autograph Shows a Competitive Side (Picture)

Matt Latos has made his contribution to American Icon Autographs in fiery fashion.  The San Diego Padres pitcher recently signed three baseballs that will be auctioned off on eBay with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the MLB Players Alumni Association.  His message on each ball is simple: “I hate SF!” Check it out:

Good for him.  The Giants are the defending World Series Champions, are from the same state as the Padres, and may be a better team, but Latos doesn’t like them.  Naturally, there will be people who call this classless and say there was no need for him to write it, but we need more of this in sports.  Latos has already had to respond to critics, saying in regard to the autograph: “I did it all in fun. It’s no disrespect to them. It was for charity.”

Just like there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Tom Brady saying he hates the Jets, there’s nothing wrong with expressing your feelings about a rival.  Well, the Padres aren’t really qualified enough to have a rival, but you get the point.  Thanks to Big League Stew via SI Hot Clicks for the picture.
