Mets’ Jeff McNeil of course ended up adopting the puppy
Jeff McNeil and his wife just couldn’t say no to a cute puppy.
The North Shore Animal League had some adoptable puppies at Citi Field prior to Friday’s New York Mets-Pittsburgh Pirates game. McNeil fell in love with one of the pups and FaceTimed his wife in an effort to convince her to adopt the dog.
McNeil homered in the game and instantly credited the puppy as the reason for his good fortune. He said after the game that he would try to use the home run to convince his wife to let them adopt the pup.
Sure enough, by Saturday, the McNeils had adopted the dog. The MLB batting leader shared this photo on Twitter:

You just knew they would end up adopting the pup. For McNeil’s sake, we hope he won’t be on the road too much and miss some of the puppy’s growth.
