Tim Tebow may never end up playing at the major league level, but that doesn’t mean the New York Mets won’t be turning a profit off of him while he’s a member of their organization.
The Mets are currently selling Tebow jerseys and T-shirts on their official website. A men’s jersey costs $119.99 while a women’s jersey will run you $99.99. But don’t worry, there’s no shipping cost for those. T-shirts are $29.99.
Not surprisingly, the merchandise is doing well. The team notes that Tebow is currently it’s top-selling jersey.
This is the type of stuff that makes you wonder if any team would have signed Tebow if he wasn’t already so famous. While his workout for MLB teams was more impressive than expected (videos here), there aren’t many — if any — players in the instructional league who could make a team money in jersey and merchandise sales. Tebow is a marketing dream.
