
Major League Baseball will assign its investigative unit to aid in the inquiry surrounding the death of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs.
The Skaggs family retained attorney Rusty Hardin to look into an apparent claim that an unnamed Angels employee may have had some involvement in Skaggs’ death. MLB admitted it had been unaware of the allegation, but would immediately assign its investigative unit to look into any allegations.

Skaggs died under the influence of drugs and opioids on July 1. The family wants to know how Skaggs got his hands on those drugs, and that is where their investigation — as well as Major League Baseball’s — will be centered.
