Oklahoma Sooners football coach Lincoln Riley issued a statement on Tuesday about his quarterback becoming a high selection in the MLB Draft.
Kyler Murray was picked No. 9 overall by the Oakland A’s on Monday. The current redshirt sophomore says he will play football this fall and that the A’s know about it.
Riley says he is “excited” for Murray and believes his quarterback will have options.

Riley saying that Murray will have “great options” seems to be his way of not letting his quarterback go so easily. Murray, who is a dual-threat QB, is set to replace Baker Mayfield. Riley would probably love to have him as long as possible rather than lose him to baseball permanently.
