Report: Red Sox seeking bullpen help before trade deadline
The Boston Red Sox have had a terrible habit of blowing late leads this season, and they appear intent on fixing that.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Red Sox are “quietly” surveying the market for relief pitching, and many executives expect them to make a move by the July 31 deadline.
Unrelated to this game, but Red Sox are quietly surveying the market for pen help. Rivals expect them to upgrade by deadline. Two things to keep in mind: 1. Red Sox are over the threshold so tax applies, 2. GM Dave Dombrowski has always preferred hard throwers.

It’s not exactly a great look considering the Red Sox had Craig Kimbrel last season and let him walk, only to head right back on the market. They now lack an established closer, with Ryan Brasier leading the team with only seven saves.
Team president Dave Dombrowski is known as an aggressive GM, so you can expect him to make the moves, but the team clearly isn’t quite as back as one player proclaimed them to be roughly two weeks ago.
