Report: Teams not very high on Matt Harvey
Matt Harvey has been surprisingly solid since the New York Mets gave up on him and he wound up in Cincinnati, but that does not mean the Reds are going to get much for him in a potential trade.
While teams have expressed interest in Harvey in advance of the July 31 trade deadline, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Sunday that most are “not terribly excited about him” and view the right-hander as a No. 4 or No. 5 starter.
Take away one poor outing, and Matt Harvey’s ERA in 13 other starts with #Reds is 3.63 ERA. Velo is up, but rival clubs still don’t sound terribly excited about him, viewing him as No. 4-No. 5 starter. Averaging fewer than 7 K/9 and 5 1/3 IP per start with CIN.

Harvey had basically been left for dead by a lot of people, so it’s impressive that he has enjoyed success in Cincinnati. While we know at least one team is interested in acquiring him, it makes sense that the price tag will have to be reasonable. Given his injury history, Harvey can’t really be depended on at this point in his career.
