Trea Turner will be missing some time for the Washington Nationals after getting injured on Tuesday night.
Turner took a pitch off his right index finger while squaring around to bunt in the first inning. He went down to the ground and immediately told a trainer he couldn’t move his finger and thought it was broken.
After the Nationals lost to the Phillies 8-2, Nats manager Davey Martinez confirmed that Turner did suffer a fracture.
There is no current timetable surrounding Turner’s impending absence, but he will go on the injured list.
Turner was batting .385 on the season with a double, two homers, four RBIs and four stolen bases. The Nats were hoping to get another full season out of him after he missed time in 2017 with injuries and rebounded to play 162 games last year.
