The defending World Series champions are adding some bullpen help this offseason.
The Washington Nationals are signing Will Harris to a three-year, $24 million deal pending a physical, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
Harris, 35, has spent the past five seasons with the Houston Astros and is coming off the best season of his career. Harris posted a 1.50 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 60 innings with Houston. He went 4-1 with four saves and struck out 62 batters.
Harris will join a bullpen that includes Sean Doolittle, Hunter Strickland, and Roenis Elias.
The Nats were able to win the World Series last year despite having a shaky bullpen, so they wanted to add a capable arm. They have done so by adding Harris, and apparently were not deterred by the huge home run he allowed in the World Series.
