Zach LaVine took home the trophy as winner of the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. However, it was runner-up Aaron Gordon who had what many will say was the best slam of the night.
With some assistance from a mascot holding the basketball over his head, Gordon did a dunk that you have to see to believe. And, if you did already see it, it’s one that’s definitely worth watching a few more times because it was that spectacular.

Even Shaq, who awarded a nine on a couple of dunks his fellow judges felt were worthy of a ten, had no choice but to give Gordon a perfect score for his effort. I mean, how could you not?
In addition to that one, Gordon also grabbed a ball from the same mascot spinning on a hoverboard and did this.
Wow, on both accounts.
Gordon didn’t win the competition, but he absolutely deserved to at least share it. LaVine said so afterward and I don’t think he would get many arguments from anyone who watched.
Gordon is in his second season in the NBA and came into Saturday as a relative unknown to many outside of Orlando. That won’t be the case anymore.
