AJ Dybantsa had an interesting run-in with a fan with his NBA debut right on the horizon.
The Washington Wizards draftee recently posed for a picture with a fan in a Boise State T-shirt. After the fan dapped up Dybantsa, he asked a question that seemed to irk the 2026 No. 1 overall pick.
Fan: “Alright, good luck on the Wizards. Are you going to request a trade?”
Dybantsa: “A trade? No? That’s not even allowed. You can’t even do that.”
Even AJ’s father, Anicet Dybantsa Sr., got quite the kick out of the exchange.

AJ had a dumbfounded look on his face as if the fan’s suggestion were utterly absurd. But there have indeed been more than a few NBA prospects throughout history who have thrown their weight around to get to where they wanted to go.
With Dybantsa considered one of multiple elite prospects in the 2026 class, there was a world where he really could have forced his way to the Utah Jazz as the rumors claimed he would. But if Dybantsa truly wanted to play somewhere else, he should have made it known before the June 23 draft.
Instead, the BYU alum has been publicly receptive to spearheading Washington’s rebuild from bottom-feeder to playoff contender. The Wizards are safe from any trade requests, at least for now.
