Andre Drummond takes photo of himself driving 96 mph, apologizes

Andre-Drummond-speeding

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond made two mistakes while cruising in his car over the weekend. The first was driving nearly 100 mph down the freeway. The second was posting a photo of his speedometer on social media.

On Saturday, Drummond shared a photo on Snapchat that showed him doing 96 in his Mercedes. The 21-year-old later apologized.

“I’ll own up to it. It was a silly mistake,” he said after Saturday night’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. “I’ve just got to move forward from it. It won’t happen again.”

Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy described the situation as “scary as hell.”

“I know you’re young and you think you’re indestructible, but for the people that care about you, it’s scary as hell,” Van Gundy said Sunday, via The Detroit Free Press. “I don’t want to wake up and read about Andre Drummond in an accident. That’s the issue to me.”

Drummond is still very young, and he is going to make plenty more mistakes during his life and career. Didn’t he hear about what recently happened to an MLB player who was speeding excessively? Hopefully Drummond now knows better than to tempt fate.
