Austin Reaves sends strong message to Lakers fans after new deal
Austin Reaves is jumping up on the turnbuckle to hype up the fans after getting his new deal.
Reaves officially decided to return to the Los Angeles Lakers this week, agreeing to a new four-year, $56 million contract (the maximum amount that the Lakers could offer straight up). The move will keep the third-year wing Reaves in Los Angeles through his age-28 season.
On Tuesday, Reaves sent a strong message to Lakers fans over Instagram. Reaves posted a hype video of his highlights (set to Tupac’s “California Love”) and declared in his caption that he would be a “Laker for Life.”
The Lakers faithful will love hearing that from the big fan favorite Reaves. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and worked hard to establish himself as a major rotation piece. Now Reaves is a regular starter for the Lakers and serves as one of their best defenders, playmakers, and three-point shooters (not to mention that he is also one of the very best in the entire NBA at getting to the foul line).
Reaves already ticked off one major box in returning to the Lakers on a long-term contract. Now he will have to live up to the high expectations that the team has for him next season.
