Caitlin Clark reportedly makes decision on joining new 3-on-3 league

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has made a decision on taking part in the newly-launched Unrivaled 3-on-3 league after it made a significant effort to lure her.

Clark turned down the chance to play in the new league, according to Michael Voepel of ESPN. The league had made a major push to try to convince Clark to take part in the project, with one report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports suggesting that Unrivaled was prepared to offer her over $1 million to play for less than three months of the WNBA offseason.

Co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled released its initial set of rosters on Wednesday, which did not include Clark. The league still has two wild-card roster spots available, but Clark will apparently not occupy either of them.

Such an offer may have been tempting for Clark, who made just over $75,000 as a rookie. However, she can and is making plenty of money with endorsement deals, and she has openly talked about how tiring the last calendar year has been for her. The opportunity for a full offseason of rest and recovery and the chance to take part in some leisure activities probably outweighed the money.

The new league will still feature plenty of star power. In addition to co-founders Stewart and Collier, the likes of Angel Reese, Kelsey Plum, Aliyah Boston, and Brittney Griner are slated to take part.
