Cam Reddish is not getting much burn during actual Los Angeles Lakers games this season. But his play in practice is a different story.
A clip of Reddish battling fellow Lakers 1-on-1 has recently gone viral on X. In the 56-second video, Reddish scores on his teammates in a variety of ways.
The Duke alum muscled his way past center Christian Koloko for an easy finish at the rim. He used his length to shoot over the top of guards D’Angelo Russell and Gabe Vincent. He also flashed some shifty moves to get buckets on Max Christie and Austin Reaves.

Given that Russell and Christie were still on the Lakers in Reddish’s sizzle reel, the 1-on-1 action must have taken place before the New Year. Russell was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in December, while Christie was sent to the Dallas Mavericks as part of the Luka Doncic deal.
Reddish himself was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in the Lakers’ bid to land Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams. The trade was eventually voided, but the 6’8″ forward remains away from the team.
Back in 2019, Reddish was considered a top-tier talent coming out of Duke alongside Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett. But while his two teammates were drafted in the top three, Reddish fell to the Atlanta Hawks at 10th. Despite his draft day slide, some still projected Reddish to become a star. Even his fellow 2019 draftees voted him to have the best career in their class.
However, Reddish may be the perfect example of individual skills not instantly equating to success in the NBA. He has the ideal size and skills to at least be a starter on a good team, if not more. But off-court issues have largely defined Reddish’s career thus far.
In 31 games this season, Reddish has averaged just 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds on 43.0% shooting from the field.
