Chris Paul smacks Dillon Brooks during incident with Victor Wembanyama

Chris Paul and Dillon Brooks mix it up

Chris Paul got away with a loose smack to Dillon Brooks during an incident involving Victor Wembanyama on Saturday night.

The Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 109-106 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, for their first win this season. Early in the third quarter, Brooks was defending Wembanyama and wrestled the Spurs center for the ball. Neither player would let go of the ball, which led teammates to try breaking them apart. During that scuffle, Paul came over and got away with smacking Brooks upside his head.

The Spurs were granted possession after that exchange, and there was no discipline, meaning Paul got away with it.

Between Paul and Brooks, that’s two thorny players who know all the veteran tricks. It’s no surprise that if two players from that game would mix it up, it would be them.

Paul finished with 3 points and 9 assists in 27 minutes. Brooks scored 16 for Houston in the loss.
